These images, mostly from our Mirrorpix archive, offer a glimpse into the ‘people’s palace’ that was at the epicenter of the Madchester scene in the 80s and early 90s.

Our images capture just a few of the Madchester personalities, staff, celebrity appearances and clubbers who have graced the doors of Le Hac over the years.
Over the years, the club has hosted performances from everyone from the Smiths to Madonna. But it wasn’t until 1986 that it really took off when events like DJ Mike Pickering’s legendary house party Nude filled the dance floors and lined up clubbers around the block.
