CofC welcomes new staff

Some have worked on campus before, others work remotely – but all are excited to join the Cougar family in their new roles at the College of Charleston! Please welcome the new members of staff to the Order (listed alphabetically below) – and let them know that no matter where they work, we’re thrilled to have them on board!

Michael Baney, Information Technology

Background: Originally from Deptford, New Jersey, I have officially lived in South Carolina since the summer of 2018. I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a BS in Information Technology and a minor in New Media and Digital Literacy.

Interests: I am an avid book reader and love watching movies or TV shows that pique my curiosity. I’ll try to strike up a conversation about one of the niche topics I’m passionate about: nerd culture, pro wrestling, Dungeons & Dragons, the list goes on!

Looking forward: I have always loved the university environment and look forward to continuing to feel part of something bigger. Building interpersonal relationships with staff here at the College to ensure their issues are addressed and resolved effectively is always a top priority for me.

Robin Bradley

Background: I am originally from upstate South Carolina, where I attended Clemson University and earned a bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation, and tourism management and a master’s degree in youth development leadership. Before coming to Charleston, I worked as a graduate assistant in the athletic department at Clemson.

Interests: In my free time, I love exploring Charleston with my dog ​​Charlie! I like to go to the beach, gym and any local restaurant.

Looking forward: I enjoy working with students at the School of Business to help them manage their academic workloads, while supporting them and watching them achieve their goals. I look forward to working with a great team at the Student Success Center and experiencing the family atmosphere it has to offer.

Caleb Carman

Background: I live in Kankakee, Illinois with my wife and three sons. Prior to starting with the College of Charleston, I worked at Olivet Nazarene University as a business analyst.

Interests: In my spare time, I enjoy renovating my house, drumming, cooking, playing baseball with my three sons and having family adventures!

Looking forward: I look forward to working with the CofC teams, learning from my colleagues and helping the College achieve its goals.

Sam Duncan

Background: I was a middle school and high school Spanish teacher for eight years before working at the College.

Interests: I like to travel. Camping and visiting national parks is one of my favorite activities. I also like to play basketball and tennis.

Looking forward: I look forward to meeting the students who attend the College and ensuring they enjoy a safe, community-supported learning environment.

Cailin Johnson

Background: I am a proud CofC and Honors College graduate! I’m originally from the Cincinnati area and after graduating from CofC taught English in Vietnam and traveled the world.

Interests: Traveling is very important to me! I have visited over 40 countries and hope to explore even more in the years to come. While I’m back in Charleston, I hope to enjoy Folly Beach, the foodie scene, and historic downtown neighborhoods!

Looking forward: I’m so excited to be back at my alma mater. I have such fond memories of being a student at CofC and Honors College, and look forward to expressing my passion for both as I meet potential students across the country.

Background: I’m from Hartsville, SC, and earned my bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of South Carolina. I taught a high school orchestra in South Carolina for three years before moving to Texas and working in higher education as an admissions counselor.

Interests: I enjoy cooking, playing video games and watching women’s basketball. I’m a big fan of the South Carolina women’s basketball team and the WNBA.

Looking forward: I look forward to growing as a professional in the field of higher education and taking on a new challenge!

Background: I recently graduated from the College of Charleston this spring. Before graduating, I worked as a student employee in the admissions department. I’m from Rock Hill, SC where I will be working remotely.

Interests: I love to read, which I think helped me survive college. I read just about anything, from thrillers to non-fiction. I also like to go to the cinema to see the latest film. And I like spending time with my friends and family, going camping or going to concerts.

Looking forward: As a student employee, I enjoyed the community aspect of working for the College. I am delighted to continue working for such a positive team and look forward to further developing my skills in the workplace.

Alex Tolle

Background: I was born and raised in Ellicott City, MD, and received my BA in Communication and Theater Arts from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. Before coming to the College of Charleston, I worked for a small business on historic Main Street in Ellicott City, and before that I worked in development at the Everyman Theater in Baltimore.

Interests: I enjoy spending time with friends, reading, going to farmers markets, playing video games and shopping with small businesses. Outside of work, I run an Etsy shop called CarryMyHeartDesigns and make fun things like glassware, stickers, and decor.

Looking forward: I look forward to working with my amazing team and being part of this beautiful city!
