SpaceX Falcon 9 is set to take off from Vandenberg on Friday

SpaceX is targeting a Falcon 9 launch on Friday that will carry 46 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit from Vandenberg’s Space Launch Complex-4.

The instant launch window is set for 2:40 p.m. Friday with a backup launch opportunity set for 10:40 p.m. Saturday, SpaceX said.

The two-stage Falcon 9 rocket will lift off with its batch of satellites that will join SpaceX’s growing constellation that provides high-speed internet service to customers around the world.

The reusable first-stage booster is expected to separate from the rocket, re-enter Earth’s atmosphere and land on the “Of Course I Still Love You,” an autonomous spaceport drone stationed in the Pacific Ocean.

Twinkle Time brings Peruvian pop, fashion and dance to the library

Twinkle Time, winner of the Global Music Award, will present multilingual Peruvian pop music and Harajuku-style music, fashion and dance on Saturday at the Santa Maria Public Library.

According to a city spokesperson, the energetic show scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Altrusa Theater will educate, entertain and energize children and families.

The project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Old Town Market Summer Series Ends Friday

The Old Town Market will end on Friday after a five-week run that drew thousands of participants to downtown Lompoc during the series of summer events.

The latest market event, themed “Healthy Lompoc Night”, will take place from 5-8 p.m. in the 100 block of South H Street.

This year’s Old Town Market marked the return of the weekly community event after it was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.

Summer programming is coordinated by the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Exxon Mobile.
