Eminem’s Music Is ‘As Punchy As Any Metal Song’ Says Rock Hall CEO

Rock Hall CEO praises Eminem’s music.

Rock Hall CEO Greg Harris said that Eminem’s music “is as punchy and direct as any metal song”. The legendary rapper was announced a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2022 inductees earlier this week.

“For many years people have asked about hip hop. He is the 10th artist to be somehow categorized in this way. But you listen to his music, it’s as punchy and direct as any metal song,” Harris said in an interview with Audacy. “It’s right there. It’s a chest kick with a message and with power and with rhythm and with a band. We are delighted that he is entering [his] first year of eligibility, that’s a big statement.”

Eminem is the best-selling artist of the 2000s, he won 15 Grammy Awards and he is the first artist to debut on ten consecutive albums at the top of the Billboard 200 charts.

The Rock Hall website credits his career with “reinforcing hip-hop as the most commercially successful music on the planet”.

Other class members include Dolly Parton, Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Pat Benatar, Carly Simon, and Lionel Richie. Other nominees who failed to make the final cut include Beck, A Tribe Called Quest, Rage Against the Machine, Kate Bush, Devo, Fela Kuti, New York Dolls, MC5 and Dionne Warwick.
