Up-and-coming singer GoGo Morrow hasn’t quite figured out her latest man’s name and number, suggesting unfinished business on her new song ‘IOU’
During a pounding production directed by Harmony Samuels, Morrow sings about cashing a rain check with her former partner, which still sends shivers down her spine. It doesn’t matter that she’s in a promising relationship, because she sings that he “has something I feel.”
Of her new single, Morrow says, “I’m singing to try to move forward in a new relationship, but I’m suffocated by the lingering emotions I have for my old love. It’s an honest and painful reflection, but I’m sure many can relate.
Morrow unveiled the official music video for “IOU” The visual, directed by the late Sebastien Sdaigui, follows a clever Morrow tapping into his ex’s surveillance system before she pays a surprise visit.
“IOU” is the second shared song from Morrow’s upcoming project, which will be released this fall via Samuels’ imprint, BOE and Universal Music Canada, in partnership with Kenya Barris’ label, Khalabo Music/Interscope Records.
“My new single ‘IOU’ is part of a whole story; the story of a girl who navigates her way between an old relationship and a new one. When you listen to the project, you’ll see all the pieces come together to form an uncomfortable conversation,” Morrow told Rated R&B of how the track connects to his next project.
In May, Morrow made her introduction with “In The Way”, which she performed on the BET Awards 2022 Amplified Stage.
