Swedish heavy metal band In Flames have shared a brand new song “State of Slow Decay”, along with a music video. The new track comes with an announcement that the band has decided to re-sign with their label, Nuclear Blast Records.
In Flames frontman Anders Friden explained that the band’s decision to re-sign with Nuclear Blast massively inspired the band to make more music: “We’ve always done our own thing without any pressure from the outside world, BUT being back with Nuclear Blast around the world has certainly inspired us to write a host of new material that includes past, present and future.
The band’s latest offering is a powerful demonstration of the band’s continued ability to write intense and overwhelming material. The first minute of “State of Slow Decay” bombards the listener with a flurry of different fast riffs, slowing down towards the middle to deliver a beautiful yet heavy chorus with Anders Friden’s clean vocals. Friden noted that In Flames intended to make this new track more than just a song, stating that “‘State of Slow Decay’ includes everything that In Flames is famous for. But it’s more than that. “a simple song is a fucking statement. I couldn’t be happier to post this as a taste of what’s to come.”
