Did you know that the Cheboygan Area Public Library has a fantastic collection of games and other “things” you can borrow? If you have a Cheboygan Library card, you can check out portable badminton, cornhole, table ping pong and a variety of cards, dice and board games. There are games for all ages and all group sizes.
In addition, there are these other “things”. These include Wi-Fi hotspots, rubber art stamps with ink pads, fishing rods with tackle boxes, ukuleles, bread maker, cake maker and more Again.
Stop by the library to see what we’re carrying. Just ask for the library of things. The dedicated area is in the main library opposite the circulation desk.
You want to use the library, but you don’t live in the neighborhood? It does not matter because we can offer you a guest card. Guest cards are library cards for anyone who wants to borrow items but does not live in the library area. The district includes the town of Cheboygan and the townships of Aloha, Beaugrand, Benton, Grant, Inverness and parts of Hebron and Munro. Guest cards are available for an annual fee of $50 per household and are valid for an entire year.
To get a guest library card, simply stop by the main library reception and a member of staff will be happy to arrange one for you.
Of course, any guest is welcome to use the library facilities without a library card. The library offers hospitality to all. There are chairs and tables to sit and work on, magazines and newspapers to browse, desktop computers to use, free Wi-Fi throughout the building, games and toys for youngsters with which to play in the children’s library, local research resources and certainly books to read. We even have a “free lending library”, where there is a small collection of books that can be borrowed without a card. Also, all Library of Things games can be used on site without checking them out (just tell the front desk staff that you’ll be borrowing it inside the building).
Other fun things happening at the library include continuing our “Oceans of Possibilities” summer reading fun. Children who have already returned some of their reading sheets have accumulated nearly 500 hours of reading time. It’s incredible. Well done, readers. And keep reading – the last day to turn in reading sheets is August 10.
The next ‘Oceans of Possibilities’ event will be an outdoor screening of the DisneyNature film ‘Oceans’, which will be screened outside in the Children’s Garden on Friday, July 15, beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m. (or when it’s warm enough). black to see the screen). This film is approximately 84 minutes long and is rated G. It will provide a fascinating look under the sea that will appeal to all ages. The event is free and there will also be free Kingston popcorn and snacks provided. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own chairs and/or blankets to sit on.
The following week, July 20 at 6 p.m., the library will host a Rock & Roll Beach Party. This program will be a free, family concert with live music. Don’t miss the fun. Join us at the library. Everyone is welcome.
