Post Malone lifted the curtain on his upcoming album this weekend in a preview of twelve carat toothache which included clips from collaborations with Doja Cat, Roddy Rich and fleet foxes“Robin Pecknold.
“I will be playing this one… This one features the most amazing, beautiful and talented Doja cat. And she’s amazing and I’m so blessed and so honored to have been able to work with her,” Posty said of Doja in an Instagram Story during which he performed bits of songs set to appear on her debut album. since 2019. The Hollywood Bleed.
“Girl, I like you / I want your friend to go shopping in a Benz / I like you / I’ll hit you when I land / Can you fit me into your plans? / I’ll hit you I like it, I do / We went to France and we woke up in Japan / I like you, I love you,” Malone sings in the first verse over a free beat and a dreamy keyboard groove. strolled in the background as the anatomy of a crush song played, smiling as he nodded to Doja’s insistent beat and whispered, sing-song verse.
“Let me know when you’re free / ‘Cause I been trying to hit it all week,” she raps in a laid-back groove.
In another part of the chat, Malone said he hopes fans like the collection because “there’s a lot of stuff and I really bled my fucking heart and my fucking soul into it and everything in it. inside.”
He also shared another sweet track he dubbed “Cooped Up” with Ricch (“most amazing man”), in which Roddy raps, “I got him off the sidewalk / Now we get payout / Everyone around me gets money / It’s too contagious.” The third collaborative song he shared was “Love/Hate Letter to Alcohol,” which features Pecknold, who Posty said was “the most f-king singer, the most epic f-king guy.”
The more decidedly rock tune, built on an ominous and brooding track, seems to tell of the darker side of drinking, as Malone sings about losing teeth and part of his dignity, while hitting the bottle. “I woke up on the floor / Guess I should’ve kept that to myself / Turns out I’m good enough to make my mouth run / But not good enough, not good enough / You know when I walk in , it’s lights out,” Posty sings over booming drums.
He also performed a peppy song with “beautiful soul” Kid LAROi titled “Wasting Angels” about remembering times before (fame). “It’s like a private plane on my way / It’s like the first time I bought a chain / It’s like when I was sane before fame / Oh-oh, oh-oh , this life is crazy,” Malone sings on the floating chorus. Another track previewed during the run was the uptempo pop track “Wrapped Around Your Finger”.
Posty co-director Dr London announced earlier this month that ttoothache will fall in May; the album is led by single “One Right Now,” which arrived last November and features an assist from Republic label mate The Weeknd. This is the continuation of 2019 Bleeding, one of Malone’s two No. 1 Billboard 200 albums. The hip-hop star also has four Hot 100 No. 1 hits, three of which ranked on Billboard’s Top 100 Songs chart: “Circles,” “Sunflower” and “Rockstar” (featuring 21 Savage).
