Bringing music back to its simplest form, British singer-songwriter Olly Hite shows how powerful a song can be, when you take it back to its bones.

With his new single “LionessHite demonstrates the incredible ability of music to tell a story and how it can reveal emotions that are much truer than words. In this particular song, the artist talks about the awesome qualities of women, drawing comparisons to the mighty lioness. Hite explains: “The lioness is majestic, feeding and walking with pride, grace and immense beauty. The lioness is strong and powerful and will do whatever she has to do to survive and grow. Even if it is the unimaginable.

Lioness – Olly Hite
You were as free as the wind
Play magic with your eyes
Mind-blowing illusion
i am hypnotized
All this confusion
I was hypnotized

Much like the visuals of “Lioness,” the overarching piano melodies overwhelm you, the song gradually building up and then sinking like the natural ebb and flow of the ocean. Hite’s warm, honeyed voice shows off his falsetto as he finally surrenders to the lioness, falling weak before her beauty and strength.

Better believe it
Because love is blind
You can’t tame the lioness inside
Better believe it
don’t always like nice
You can’t tame the lioness inside

Residing on the south coast of England himself, it’s no surprise that Hite weaves the ocean into his music, both sonically and visually. In the new music video for “Lioness,” we see the songwriter overwhelmed by the rising tide, as he slowly sinks in – upright piano and all. With actress Coral Beed as an accomplice in this Bonnie and Clyde-style tale, we see the two set off on a journey, however, from the look in Beed’s eyes, we can sense from the get-go that something is afoot. point to imply. Filmed in black and white, the only hint of color we see are her glowing golden eyes. On their way to the sandy beach, Hite and Beed face a confrontation, leaving you with an ending you didn’t quite anticipate. Hite shares, “It’s a dark but beautifully shot, Bonnie and Clyde-esque tale with a twist and a surprising but ambiguous ending. The idea being that the viewer can decide for themselves how or why the video ended so dramatically.

Am I going crazy
Feeling so left behind
I have this emptiness inside

Directed and co-written by BAFTA-nominated producer Mark Hamilton, the music video for “Lioness” shines with elegance and class, making it worthy of the silver screen. Proving that Hite is a man of many talents, his acting skills add depth to both his music and his lyrics, with his body language reflecting the emotion behind his words. Continuing to create beautifully poignant versions, inspired by the musicality of Elton John, Billy Joel and Chris Martin, Olly Hite serves up a storm, as we sit in awe of his talent, patiently awaiting the next installment.
