The tragic incident at the Astroworld Music Festival in Houston last year is set to feature in a documentary titled Favorite for the concertswhich is slated for release on Friday.
Ahead of the release, documentary filmmaker Charlie Minn said American rapper Travis Scott should be in jail after ten people died and more than 300 attendees were injured as they rushed to the stage during Scott’s performance. .
Speaking to Page Six, Minn said, “In my opinion he is a criminal. Ten people died. How can we circumvent this? »
“The reason he deserves criticism and jail time is he knew there was a problem,” Minn said. “He recognized an ambulance in the crowd. He noticed people passing out and stopped the show three times. I’m not saying he knew people were dead, but he knew there was a problem. An ambulance is not an ice cream truck.
The documentary will be released in select theaters in Texas beginning Friday for one week. It will be available to stream online.
Concert Crush features interviews with eight people who attended the concert and testified to what happened.
Minn says he tries to give victims a voice and tells us he hopes “every concert organizer and promoter uses Astroworld as a model of what not to do.”
“I don’t want to see another person get hurt at a concert anymore,” he says. “Last time I checked, you’re supposed to go there to have fun and not to fight for your life.”
Four hundred lawsuits against Scott, Live Nation and others involved in Astroworld were combined into a single civil case representing nearly 2,800 victims. They were charged with negligence.
Before the lawsuits were filed, the Goosebumps and Live Nation singer had denied the allegations.
