Vandals use .22 rifle to shoot Tuscola County fiber optic lines causing $50,000 in damage

Investigators from the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office are looking for the person(s) who damaged the fiber optic lines by shooting them with a suspected .22 rifle, causing damage estimated at $50,000.

Investigators from the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office are looking for the person(s) who damaged the fiber optic lines by shooting them with a suspected .22 rifle, causing damage estimated at $50,000.

According to a social media post Friday, Thumb Electric Company reported damage to three storage loops of its fiber optic cable located on utility poles on Riley Road, near English Road, in the townships of Wells and Kingston.

The storage loops were repeatedly shot by a suspected .22 rifle. Damage is estimated at approximately $50,000.
