Now that Harry Styles’ “As It Was” has been declared the Billboard Song of the Summer for 2022 – check out the final chart here – we’re taking a look back at 2010 and beyond for the biggest songs from summers past. But which one is your favorite?
In Billboardis very first Song of the Summer Face-Off bracket game (vote in Round 2 below!), music fans can choose the songs that instantly bring back the summer vibes. All of these songs ended up in the top 10 on Billboardfrom the seasonal Songs of the Summer chart, from Katy Perry’s West Coast anthem “California Gurls,” featuring Snoop Dogg (2010’s No. 1), to last summer’s silky-smooth track “Butter” from BTS.
Both of these songs made it past the first ballot, as did songs by Lil Nas X (“Old Town Road” & “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”), Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello (“Señorita”), Dua Lipa (“Levitating”), The Weeknd (“Blinding Lights” and “Can’t Feel My Face”) and even 2022 champion Styles (“Watermelon Sugar”). Oh, and there is a very wrong battle in the mix for Round 2: Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, versus Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy.” Or maybe you prefer good fight between “Good 4 U” by Olivia Rodrigo and the number 1 song of the summer “Despacito” in 2017.
But that’s just a drop in the bucket at the beach: there are now 32 songs battling it out in our all-new parenthesis game. Who will become the Song of the Summer Face-Off Champion? It’s up to you. Vote in Round 2 below. Voting ends Tuesday afternoon (September 13) at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT, when third-round voting kicks off and the field is narrowed to the Sweet Sixteen.
