‘Yellowstone’ Outfit Lines Up FIFA Bribery Scandal Film – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: 101 studios (Yellowstone), above the line Productions (Official Secrets), Campfire Studios (WeWork: or the making and destroying of a $47 billion unicorn) and Pzaj (Camp Hideout) are teaming up on a feature-length documentary about corruption within global football organization FIFA.

The feature documentary will follow the late journalist Andrew Jennings’ investigation into the misconduct and corruption of FIFA’s management team and members. Jennings’ background in investigative journalism and his knowledge of criminology led him to unravel the organization from within. When his research caught the attention of the FBI and US attorney Loretta Lynch, they teamed up to reveal other levels of criminality that led to multiple arrests and ultimately the resignation of the FIFA president. , Sepp Blatter.

Co-directed by Clay Tweel and Maura Anderson, the film will tell the story through the eyes of the investigative journalist who took on the most powerful sports organization in the world.

The project was originally developed by Trish D Chetty following her investigations into FIFA corruption during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Upon meeting Jennings at the Play the Game conference in Denmark in 2013, she discovered that they both had a common interest – exposing wrongdoing within FIFA.

Producers are Ross Dinerstein of Campfire Studios; Ged Doherty (former Chairman and CEO of Sony Music UK) and Chetty of Above the Line; David Glasser, businessman Ron Burkle and Bob Yari of 101 Studios; Phillip Glasser and Jason Brown of Pzaj; and Shannon Riggs.

‘I’ve been a football fan all my life, but it wasn’t until I discovered Jennings’ investigative reporting that I was able to understand how the game evolved into what we see today’ today – a global obsession exploited by small men and big corporations,” Tweel said. “Maura and I are thrilled to fully show the myriad of corrupt practices at FIFA and find out what they say about the revealing nature of the personal power.”

Chetty added: “Andrew and I shared a desire to expose the corruption behind one of the greatest sports organizations on the planet, and I’m honored to be a part of continuing the work he’s done in speaking truth to power – showing both the extent and ramifications of this corporate juggernaut’s corrupt dealings. There is a stellar team of talent behind this project that I know will do justice to both the breadth and complexity of this story.

Said Dinerstein: “As a huge sports fan – both in terms of the entertainment value and the incredible passion and integrity inherent in the competition – I find the situation at FIFA horrifying. The gravity and extent of the crimes of organization are pretty jaw-dropping, and this doc will be a wild ride through a story that gets weirder and more sinister with every turn.

“We are so fortunate to be able to work with our prestigious partners to bring this untold true story to the public. What people will learn in this documentary will cause them to question everything they know about sports organizations around the world” , added Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios.

101, which produces Taylor Sheridan’s hit series Yellowstone, manages the recently created Sports Illustrated Studios. Upcoming projects include Paradise foundbased on the true story of high school football coach Rick Prinz, and a documentary series about sexual abuse and the Ohio State University cover-up, co-produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures.

Notable Campfire and Dinerstein projects include the Hulu documentary feature WeWork: or the creation and destruction of a $47 billion unicorn; FX Hysterical and The most dangerous animal of all; and HBO Max Lowering and Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults.
